Today I truly do believe children are facing a crisis. I truly do believe childhood has changed for the worse; childhood is no longer what it once was, and it's very saddening. Children of today are becoming addicted to technology; they are becoming playless, and they are forgetting how to be kids. Kids have had their free playtime taken away. Kids are facing a play deficit, and they are facing a nature deficit. This is something that we as a society need to help change and put an end to. I don't think people want to see kids not playing outside anymore, not playing with friends anymore, or spending their lives inside all day long. We need to bring back childhood, bring back play to our neighborhoods and our parks and our schools; we need to bring kids back outside, away from the overload of technology, away from the overbooked schedule of structured activities. If we can do this one step at a time, then the world for our kids and the future will be so much better. I would like to end here by leaving you with some links to organizations that are working each and every day for this common goal of restoring childhood to the lives of kids.
